As you can see from my last post, its been a little over a month since my last post. Took a family vacation and am extremely busy putting a few things together. Enough about that!
Went out this morning to the C-100 canal located behind The Falls Shopping Center off of S. Dixie Highway from 6-8:15AM. It was a windy morning and the sun did not come out until 7:30 or so. Started off with a black spinnerbait with a single colorado blade. Ten minutes in, felt a strike but missed the hook-up. Slowed down a bit, but nothing. Continued with the spinnerbait for a while more adjusting speed, depth but stil nothing.
Tied on a trusty XRap on second rod and jerked it erratically. I saw a decent size Peacock (3-4#) following it a few times except for one swat but no hook-up. Offered different color selections and they would for the most part, follow it as to say they were more curious than hungry. As I continued to jerk, I see two huge Peacocks (I would say 6-8# easily). I threw jerks of course, topwater, ratltraps, anything shad like for the rest of the outing. I was more interested in catching some Peacock than slowing down for some Largemouth so I exhausted myself on power fishing.
Needless to say I had to leave empty handed. But I’ve seen the BIG Peacock here and I will return when I have a few hours. Here are some pictures from my last outing.
