A trip to the marina

Sunday was a rainy day, all day. I have not had too many opportunities lately to go saltwater fishing so I decided to put my freshwater gear to the side and went out to Black Point marina.

Was out there from 6:30 till about 9am and the rain never let down. It wasn’t a hard rain, but constant. Anyways, I went out with a few plugs no live bait (I should have got some). There was a person next to me who caught a nice 24″ Snook twenty minutes after I had shown up. He was out since 4am and said that was his only bite.

Never the less, I plugged away with different plugs: Redfish magic, Rapala X-Rap and a few others. I had maybe two nicks and that was it. Since this was a spur of the moment outing, I didn’t really plan it out. Usually when I go out saltwater fishing, I plan. It was still nice to go out saltwater fishing for a while and plan on doing it again soon.

I have to agree that going saltwater fishing every now and again is enjoyable. I’ve rushed it myself sometimes and found I brought the completely wrong gear. It’s a nightmare. Always a good idea to plan a fishing trip in order to get the best out of it.
