Had only 2 hours to fish on Sunday morning and have one word to describe it: Windy… Started out with a white buzz bait with a red trailer hook and ran it parallel to the shoreline (same location as the previous week). Must have cast it a few dozen times before I switched to the Senko; caught a small 1 lb’er and I was bringing it in a nice 4-5 lb’er was with him. I quickly unhooked tiny and pitched the senko back in. Nope, sorry, I never saw him again. Kept with the slow presentation for a good 20 minutes.
Switched to a series of the trusty go-to bait XRap in various colors but nothing there either. Switched again but now to a Bill Dance Excalibur Spit’n Image – Ozark Shad and walked the dog. It definitely wasn’t pretty, but the faster action of it twisting from side to side combined with the constant pushing of the wind gave it the presentation the fish wanted to see. Had what looked like a decent fish strike at it a good 3-4 times but I guess I tried to set the hook to soon as missed it or them every time… Had to pack it up after that but planning on going there again this weekend and hopefully with a little more time.
