Sunday score 0-1

sunrise.jpgNot having enough time lately, I wanted my quick weekend trip to hit a lake that I had not fished prior; not a hard thing to do considering I live by a ton of them. Went online and did some searching through Google maps/earth and finally decided on which one to hit. I thought I had it all planned out, but you know how that goes. Had a selection of topwaters (popper/buzzbait), my go-to baits (jerkbait), soft plastics (tiki worm/senko), a few crankbaits and spinner baits.

Unfortunately, nothing seemed to help today. While walking by the bank (sight fishing), I noticed a pair of Peacocks; thru in the topwaters and they did not even bother to look at them no matter how close I got to them. Switched to the jerkbaits which usually get the Peacock’s going but again, no dice.

At this point I decided to slow down the presentation so I picked up my spinning tackle with a Texas rigged Tiki worm and began pictching it over the pair and bringing it in slowly. Could you beleive that they just looked at it and took off??!??
Continued with the worm flipping it to some sunken tree stumps. I saw a largemouth in that area but nothing I threw today tempted them.

There was a nasty lighting storm with a ton of rain in the early hours of the morning so maybe they turned on before the rainfront and stocked up. That could explain why nothing bit. Am I just making excuses? Well still better than working..
