Another short trip to a close lake produces excitement. I literally was there at 7:10am and it warmed up quick (both the bite and the heat). Started off with my usuals: topwater bait and my trusty Rapala X-rap. There was a leaning tree providing some shade in the shallow shore line. Through out the topwater a few times and noticed a bass glance at it as it passed by but that’s as close as it got. Was not sure if it was my presentation or if they weren’t interested.
Lure Selection:
Rebel Pop-R Magnum
Rapala X-Rap - Silver
Switched to my X-Rap and on the second cast, I caught the first fish. Boy, was this a great first fish. A true PIG… Weighing in at about 6 1/2#, this monster popped out of the shadow and simply swallowed it. Had two nice jumps but I was able to bring it in quickly as it was only a few feet from the shore line.
After getting my composure, I flipped between a senko and a french fry but it seemed the fish wanted a quick presentation. Went back to the X-rap and on about the third cast, another nice bass took the bait. This one was not as big as the first one, but still had some weight; 4.7 lbs. of muscle.

Thanks for the compliments. It sure was fun bringing those two in. I should be around this weekend. I’ll give you a ring.
